The judgment
3.00s

That is how long it takes your prospects to decide whether they can trust you.

The First Three Seconds · The Signet Method

52% of your referred prospects look you up and never call.

By the time a prospect sits down with you, they have opened your website, scanned your LinkedIn, and decided whether you are a good fit. The hour you spend together only justifies a decision they made in three seconds. Most advisors do not pass that first look, and lose to someone who simply looked the part.

The reframe

Same credentials. Same fee. Different feeling.

Your prospects decide on what feels right, and on what the choice says about them. With Signet, you become the advisor they feel lucky to have found, and proud to name years later.

The Signet Method

Five layers, built so your ideal client chooses you.

  1. 01

One sentence your best client would repeat about you, and could not say about anyone else.

“We work with surgeons in their first decade of practice, and no one else.”

    Illustrative
    • Passes the Ownership Test: no other advisor in town could say it.
    • Passes the Referral Test: a client can repeat it at dinner.
  2. 02

The story you tell, so a client connects with the way you work and can retell it to a spouse, a partner, or a friend who is looking, and sound like themselves when they do.

    1. Why you started
The reason you do this, and the standard it set.
    2. What you stand for
The belief clients feel in how you treat them, and repeat to others.
    3. Who it is for
Named plainly, so the right client feels seen and the wrong one moves on.
    4. Why it holds
The proof behind the promise, in how you work every day.
  3. 03

A look built with intent, so quality shows at first sight, you stand apart from the rest, and every interaction makes you more familiar and more trusted.

  4. 04

Every touchpoint, designed so a client feels lucky to have found you and becomes your loudest advocate.

    1. First look
Your site earns their trust and reads like it was made for someone like them.
    2. First conversation
They arrive already sure. You make them comfortable with the decision.
    3. The proposal
Clearly addresses their goals, and leaves them assured you are the right choice for them.
    4. Onboarding
Every form, email and welcome says the same thing.
    5. Year one
A note on the anniversary and a check-in nobody asked for. They feel like your only client, and the first referral arrives unprompted.
  5. 05

The system that keeps the other four layers consistent, and scalable as the practice grows.

    • Every client hears the same story.
Whoever answers the phone tells it the way you would.
    • The look never drifts.
One template, one voice, one set of colors, for the newest hire too.
    • The experience repeats.
Every client gets the same care, at a level the advisor down the street cannot match.
    • Say no to the wrong fit.
The brand is protected most by the clients you turn away.

Selected work

Where each one started, and what changed.

  1. Tasciotti Financial brand systemRetirement income planning
    Before
An advisor with three decades of experience and a first career as a television news reporter, serving successful professionals and business owners moving from building wealth to living from it, and a brand that said “just another advisor.”
    What changed
A position built on calm confidence and the transition into retirement rather than on performance. A pillar mark paired with a signature wordmark, so the brand reads as structure and as one person. A palette of stable wood, warm wood, and gray-blue on a soft ground, with type that reads as settled and plain-spoken.
    Layers built
Positioning, narrative, and a full identity system delivered as a guide, plus the website and stationery that carry it.
  2. Junonia Financial brand systemRetirement income for accomplished families
    Before
A retirement-income practice built by a founder who had lived through the exact loss he now protects clients from. From the outside, it looked like any other advisor.
    What changed
A name and story drawn from the rare Junonia shell, found only by those who slow down and look carefully. A handwritten wordmark and a shell mark for the personal, unhurried experience the firm promises. Deep navy, coastal teal, and shell neutrals, with type that feels calm, careful, and personal.
    Layers built
Positioning, narrative, identity, and the website, with the search foundation beneath it.
  3. Matthieson Private Wealth brand systemPrivate wealth for high-income families
    Before
A team that handles everything for high-income families, from income and investments to protection, taxes, and legacy, wearing a brand that could have been any advisor’s.
    What changed
One line, "The whole picture. One advisor.", and an income-tier position that signals a level of success the moment the name is said. A heraldic crest with a shield and two leopards for protection and vigilance. Heritage brown, slate blue, and warm ivory, with type that carries the weight of an established firm without feeling dated.
    Layers built
Positioning, narrative, and identity, followed by the website and an ongoing content program.
  4. Cascade Private Wealth brand systemA new financial planning firm
    Before
A new firm launching from a standing start, with partners who needed a name, a story, and an identity that would read as established on day one.
    What changed
A name from the trophic cascade, one change at the top restoring balance to everything below, and a wolf emblem for loyalty, protection, and intelligence. Deep blue, dusty navy, and blue-green against tan, with type chosen to read as established from the first day.
    Layers built
Positioning, narrative, and identity through to the website, with trademark and compliance handled as part of the launch.
The engagement

Wherever your practice is, there is a way to stop blending in.

If you want to start with the referrals you already get, the First Layer makes sure they feel understood before you meet and stay warm until you do. If the whole brand needs rebuilding, the Full Build does all five layers. If it is built and needs keeping, the Retainer runs it. Every one is scoped on the call and fixed before you sign.

Book a call

The Full Build

  • A prospect who looks you up feels understood before the first meeting, and arrives already leaning your way.
  • A client can explain in one sentence why they chose you, which is the sentence a referral needs.
  • Every touchpoint looks and sounds like the same firm, from the first email to the annual review.
  • The practice holds its shape when you are not in the room, so it can grow, rest, or one day be sold.

The choice

Every advisor has a brand, whether they are building it or not.

Most ignore how they are perceived. A few decide to stand out.

Signet. How advisors get chosen.

Why Signet

The advisors who win the most are rarely the best advisors. They are the ones who look like the obvious choice.

Why we only work with advisors

I love working in an industry where the work matters. Advisors get families through the biggest decisions of their lives, and a good one changes how those decisions turn out. That is worth doing well, so Signet works with advisors and nobody else, and knows your business well enough to see where compliance catches generalists out.

Why I started Signet

The advisors who kept winning had decided who they were for and looked like it everywhere a prospect checked. The rest were excellent and interchangeable. Signet exists to move you from the second group to the first.

The only algorithm that matters

Most agencies optimize for platforms and algorithms, and both change every quarter. Signet optimizes for the one operating system that is present at every decision: the human brain. The method is built from the research on how people come to trust someone, hire them, and send their friends.
